Product detailed description

If you play sports, lead an active life, and feel exhausted, spirulina will supply the much needed valuable macronutrients. And watch out! Even kids who avoid all vegetables will munch on this treat. Its unique crunchiness and delicious taste is ensured right there at the organic farm in India.

Unique spirulina from the eco-friendly Auroville community

This Vitalvibe spirulina belongs to the Spirulina paracas strain, one of the very first life forms (some 3.6 million years ago) which was used as a source of nutrients by various cultures in what is now Mexico and Africa.

This particular alga comes from a remarkable place with a rich spiritual tradition. Auroville is an experimental town whose mission is to encourage people’s spiritual growth and life in harmony. Many ecological technologies and alternative methods are applied here.

This farm with more than twenty years of tradition makes a point of functioning in harmony with the principles of long-term sustainability and fair trade. Its owners employ mainly women from socially disadvantaged local communities. They ensure a friendly and safe working environment and good salaries for their employees.

Production using ecological methods

The particularly sunny climate allows a unique way of producing this top quality spirulina using ecological farming methods. The alga is grown in shallow ponds approximately 15 cm below the surface. The water is enriched with nutrients (minerals and salts) which provide the perfect living conditions for the alga. The culture is mixed several times a day to stimulate the process of photosynthesis.

The spirulina, harvested from the water in the form of biomass, undergoes a process of purification and filtration. It is then pressed into a paste which can be ground into the distinctive spaghetti form. It is subsequently dried in the sun, which is a question of mere hours in the sunny coastal climate. In the end the spirulina spaghetti are broken into smaller pieces and packaged.

Why do we also munch on spirulina?

  • It supports natural immunity, has antioxidative properties, and increases vitality.
  • It helps regulate appetite, thus helping you keep your weight under control.
  • It contains a high amount of natural sugars (glucose and fructose) yet has a low glycemic index and so ensures balanced blood sugar levels.
  • It provides an impressive amount of protein and digestible fibre, so it makes you feel full.
  • It is rich in a broad range of vitamins and minerals.
  • It is a source of vitamin C which assists with iron absorption from food and supports the health of the cardiovascular system and proper functioning of the nervous system.
  • Its content of vitamin B6 and iron promotes healthy blood formation and reduces tiredness and fatigue.
  • Iron contributes to healthy oxygenation and a healthy immune system.
  • Magnesium contributes to the proper functioning of the nervous system.
  • The high content of calcium is essential for healthy bones.
  • It is a source of chlorophyll, the green pigment similar to haemoglobin in its structure.
  • There is also beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, an excellent natural antioxidant.

  • 1-5g a day (1-2 teaspoons).
  • You can simply pop it into your mouth or add it to your salads and other savoury dishes.
