Forest bathing anytime, anywhere

The sense of smell is one of the most sensible human senses. It also has the most powerful connection with the unconscious and long-term memory where we store our memories. The molecules of the active compound from essential oils travel from the nose down olfactory nerves into the limbic system in the brain. There it affects our emotions, behaviour, but also long-term memory, for example. Scents can thus affect our emotional state incredibly fast.

FOREST LUNGS was inspired by the Japanese concept of forest bathing. Spending time in nature stimulates our parasympathetic nervous system, making us feel calmer as our stress fades away. The FOREST LUNGS fragrance was formulated using a patented olfactory technology that replicates the beneficial phytoncides, natural compounds produced by trees.

An ingenious combination of natural and nature identical fragrances

FOREST LUNGS contains a combination of sustainable natural extracts, essential oils obtained by steam distillation, and safe synthetic nature identical fragrances. If the manufacturer opted for a 100% natural ingredient list, the environmental and social aspects of the production process would suffer. How come?

Many extracts in this blend come from rare plants, and using them would put an unnecessary strain on the environment. In those cases, the producer prefers to use nature identical fragrances. The formula is non-toxic, does not contain parabens, phthalates, hexanes, or synthetic musk based on nitroaromatic or polyaromatic compounds.

Ingredients from ethical and sustainable production

At The Nue Co. they like transparency. All their ingredients are easily traceable in the supplier chain, so you can rest assured that they are ethically and responsibly obtained.

Indonesian patchouli essential oil comes from a foundation that uses energy efficient distillation stills to produce oil sustainably. As part of the project, the supplier also provides training for local workers in good agricultural, administration and financial processes, allowing communities to grow sustainably and independently.

They get cedarwood from an upcycling programme in Morocco. The scent is extracted from sawdust, usually a waste product of the furniture industry, using molecular distillation.

Vetiver from Haiti, from local farmers, supporting people from no less than three villages. The suppliers of both vetiver and cedarwood have both achieved the Ecocert Fair for Life certification, which guarantees fair prices, working conditions, and full traceability of all ingredients.

Benzoin comes from Laos. Around 40,000 farmers participate in harvesting the resin, and new schools were established in the area to support families in the community.

Bergamot oil from Calabria, Italy where local farmers grow the fruit responsibly.

Does it really work?

Here are the results of independent testing on 65 participants:

• 94% of respondents felt less stressed within 30 minutes after use.
• 92% of respondents felt calmer within 30 minutes after use.
• 87% of respondents felt that their everyday stress levels were reduced within 30 days.
• 91% of respondents stated their anxiety levels were lower within 30 days.

Suggested use:

• Spray onto pulse points.

• TIP: Try “box breathing”: Inhale for a count of 4, hold your breath for 4, exhale for a count of 4.

• Someone may feel the effects immediately after first use, someone might notice the benefits after some time. Keep at it and observe yourself for 3-4 weeks.
