Camu camu is a superfood also known as a vitamin bomb. It contains an exceptionally large amount of beneficial substances and is the richest known source of vitamin C in the world – for instance, one berry of this fruit shrub contains many times more vitamin C than an orange, which is handy (not only) for comfortably getting through the winter months, which can be quite challenging here. It also contains potassium, iron, rutin, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, copper, sodium, selenium, cobalt, vitamins B2 and B3, flavonoids, lutein, beta-carotene, and other antioxidants.
This fruit shrub thrives best in the floodplains of the Amazon rainforest, specifically on the banks of rivers, streams, and marshes. It loves water so much that it is literally submerged in it for 4-5 months a year. When you approach it when it is adorned with small flowers, it will charm you with a pleasant sweet fragrance. The time for harvesting comes in spring when the indigenous people set out in wooden canoes to collect the fruits with a distinctive sour taste and bright red, purple, or green color. If not consumed immediately, they must be dried and then crushed into powder.

How can you prepare camu camu?
Enhance your smoothie, yogurt, juice, lemonade, or water with 1 teaspoon of camu camu daily. However, be careful about the temperature of the drink/food – if it exceeds 40°C, the vitamin C will be degraded.

Příběh značky Planet Friendly se začal psát na cestách do Jižní Ameriky, kde Martin, Míša a Filip navštěvovali tamnější domorodé kmeny.
