The samurai used to drink it for strength and resilience, Hippocrates prescribed it to his patients, and today it is the holy grail of biohackers. This unpasteurised vinegar made of freshly pressed apple juice is pale brown in colour, and the light sediment - the mother - is a proof of its “aliveness”. It is precisely the “mother” that tells you that the best part of the vinegar - minerals and enzymes - has been preserved.

  • Made from 100% natural organic apple juice.
  • From a Czech family cider house in the White Carpathians.
  • Very versatile - handy in biohacking, cooking, and cosmetics.
  • Unpasteurised, free of preservatives.

Product detailed description

Vinegar at Hostětín cider house is made by fermenting their own apple cider without adding yeast or bacteria, and without heat treatment. Unfiltered, such as this one, vinegar benefits you with its probiotic bacteria, a load of potassium, sodium, phosphorus, calcium, and trace elements, cleanses the organism, and, if you take it 20 minutes before a meal, it will help you stabilise your blood sugar levels. It will come in handy in the kitchen as an ingredient of dressings, can be used to pamper the skin in baths, and if you use it for your hair, get ready to be buried under a load of compliments - a shinier mane would be hard to find.

How did Hostětín apple cider vinegar win us over?

  • With its unparalleled quality. The manufacturer keeps a sharp eye on the certifications of their apple farmers so that only organic fruit finds its way into the vinegar. It is not a large production, but rather an honest family cider house in the White Carpathians. Their goal is not the maximisation of profit, but of quality, as well as keeping traditions alive, and supporting local fruit farmers. The vinegar undergoes a yearly inspection by the organic food supervisory authorities.
  • With its gentle processing. This vinegar is made by fermenting apple cider using two methods - the classical Orleans method, in which the cider ferments slowly in an open vat, and they have also recently started using modern technology which allows them to produce larger quantities of vinegar.
  • Its unpasteurised quality and nutrient content. Unpasteurised apple vinegar preserves all the values and nutrients of apples. Moreover, it also contains beneficial enzymes produced during fermentation and natural acids that destroy toxins and harmful bacteria in the body and in the foods we eat, and provides the body with minerals, especially potassium.

The secret weapon of biohackers, ancient Egyptians, and Hippocrates

Hippocrates realised its antiseptic and cleansing properties as early as 400 years B.C and prescribed unfiltered apple vinegar to his patients right and left. Ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks, and Romans also considered it part of their “medical kits”, it is mentioned in the Bible, and it remained popular even during the Middle Ages.

Suggested use:

  • Use it in the kitchen to prepare various dishes, vinaigrettes, and salads.
  • Reach for it when cleaning the house. It’s great for cleaning the bathroom, windows, floor, and it can even substitute dishwasher detergents.
  • Use it to pamper your skin and hair. Apple vinegar is a balm for the skin and hair.
  • Use it to hack your blood sugar levels. How?
    • Drink a glass of water with a spoonful of quality apple vinegar before a meal.
    • Acetic acid inactivates the enzyme alpha-amylase (which breaks down starches to glucose in the mouth) and slows down the absorption of carbohydrates. In this way it gives your body more time to deal with glucose in the bloodstream, and your guilty-pleasure muffin or high-carb side dish will wreak much less havoc.
    • Vinegar will also get your muscles to absorb sugar that entered your bloodstream during the meal more quickly.

TIP: The sediment at the bottom of the bottle is not bad, quite the opposite. It is a precipitate of proteins grouped in fibrous formations (mother culture), and their presence means that the best part of the vinegar - the minerals and enzymes - have not been destroyed. To make use of the full benefits of the “mother”, shake the vinegar well before use.

Even though this vinegar contains zero preservatives, it doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge.

MOŠT logo

The honest cider house in Hostětín was brought to life by the civic association Tradition of the White Carpathians in the year 2000. They were keen to revive traditional fruit farming and at the same time create jobs in the border region. In producing cider, they use methods that preserve its natural character as much as possible. The unfiltered fruit juice, free of artificial additives, sweeteners, spoils the taste buds and, since ¾ of the production is certified organic, it benefits both the body and nature. The quality of their apple superfoods will enchant you with the first taste, but if you need further reassurance, know that they boast a number of awards such as Czech organic food, Regional Food of the Zlín Region and Pearl of the Zlín Region.
