Product detailed description

This traditional Japanese tea is made by grinding de-veined spring tea leaves, which have been shaded on plantations for approximately 21 days under a lightly translucent roofing structure, into a fine powder. This is what differentiates it from Matcha Wako, which you can also find in our e-shop. Kyoto has a higher proportion of longer leaves, which have a higher content of cleansing catechins, and the resulting powder is also somewhat coarser.

In addition to its sweet and gentle taste, Matcha tea also offers many benefits for the human body – it contains a lot of antioxidants, helps calm the mind, improves concentration, and is rich in various vitamins such as A, C, and E. Furthermore, it serves as a full-fledged substitute for a popular (morning) cup of coffee or as a quality companion for any tea ceremony.

Why do we love drinking this tea?

  • It comes from one of the best Matcha tea producers in all of Japan. The renowned Marukyu Koyamaen factory, which places great emphasis on quality, is located in the ancient city of Uji in the Kyoto region, a paradise of green teas. Through Dobrá čajovna, you receive Matcha of the highest quality.
  • It has a balanced and velvety sweet taste, making it suitable not only for tea ceremonies but also as a drink that will enrich your (everyday) life.
  • It is made from de-veined leaves, meaning it is not an infusion of dried leaves but pure tea leaf pulp.
  • It has beneficial effects on our body. It is full of antioxidants, helps calm the mind, and improves concentration. It also contains the tea equivalent of caffeine, which is released in the body over 3–6 hours, making it more favorable for your body than a cup of coffee.

How can you prepare the tea?

Wako belongs to the category of Usucha teas (one of the two traditional Japanese preparation styles for Matcha tea ceremonies), which literally translates to "light" or "thin" tea. For this reason, you only need 0.7 dL of water at a temperature of 70 °C to pour over 2 g of tea. Interestingly, Usucha is characterized by a layer of foam or bubbles, typically achieved using a traditional Japanese bamboo whisk – but if you don't own one, feel free to use an ordinary whisk or milk frother.

Prepare the tea any time of the day, but no later than 3–4 hours before bedtime. It has stimulating effects that could disrupt your deep sleep.

Ingredients: Pure green tea.

Warnings:

  • Matcha does not replace a balanced and varied diet.
  • Do not exceed the recommended daily amount (2–3 cups depending on personal body constitution and metabolism).
  • Avoid consuming tea 3–4 hours before bed due to its stimulating effects.
  • The product is not suitable for children, pregnant, and breastfeeding women.
  • If you are taking medication or are under medical supervision, consult your doctor about drinking this particular tea.

Storage: Store the product out of reach of children in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight (ideally up to 25 °C).

Country of production: Czech Republic, Japan.

When Hubert Hátle started in 1994 as a tea journeyman in Pardubice's Dobrá čajovna, he had no idea where honest work and a desire for knowledge supported by (hecto)litres of quality tea would lead him. His steps ranged from training prospective employees to travelling through China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Georgia or Turkey to Wenceslas Square, where he finally bought Dobra Tea Factory from its original owner in 2015. Thanks to this, the name no longer hides only branches with the finest teas, but also sales and tastings of wine, coffee, chocolate and cocoa. There is also no shortage of tea courses, stylish catering, expert lectures and exhibitions or corporate team building - but there must always be enough time to visit the Asian suppliers who keep all the products as good as they were 30 years ago.
