What is S-adenosylmethionine?

Even though the SAMe compound was discovered quite recently (at the beginning of the 1950s), our body produces it naturally using the amino acids methionine and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The SAMe cycle later involves vitamin B12 and folic acid as well. SAMe helps regulate and govern fundamental functions in living cells.
