What is L-tyrosine?

L-tyrosine is an amino acid, and it is found in great quantities in fish, poultry, dairy products, and legumes. Justus von Liebig, a German chemist, discovered tyrosine in 1846 in cheese, which is why he named it “tyros” - cheese in Greek. L-tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid because your body can produce it from phenylalanine.
