A Coral-Friendly Sunscreen
Natural sunscreens use mineral compounds to protect against the sun’s rays. Amazinc has chosen zinc oxide in a NON-NANO form. Compared to commonly used chemical UV filters, mineral filters are safer for both humans and the environment. They work purely on a mechanical principle, forming a thin layer on the skin that reflects UV radiation.
Chemical filters, on the other hand, penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream. Some are suspected of disrupting hormonal balance, and conventional sunscreen formulations often include other questionable synthetic substances (preservatives, synthetic fragrances) that can do more harm than good.
Say I do to non-nano
For better spreadability, manufacturers reduce filter particles from micro to nano size, applicable to both chemical and mineral UV filters. However, it has been found that the nano form of UV filters significantly disrupts the balance of aquatic ecosystems, contributing to the toxicity of seas and the bleaching and death of corals. Therefore, avoid nano-form sunscreen products.
How to Use the Cream?
- For optimal protection, apply the cream to the face and body at least 15 minutes before sun exposure.
- Reapply the cream after 1 hour or after swimming, towel drying, or excessive sweating.
